This collection contains correspondence relating specifically to the unsuccessful armed slave rebellion led by abolitionist John Brown (1800-1859) on the Union garrison in Harpers Ferry, Virginia. She previously worked at the George Eastman House, International Museum of Photography, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland and most recently at the Spencer Museum at the University of Kansas.

Primary to the mission is the safekeeping and sharing of the Southwest’s literature, film, and music, and the photography of the Southwest and Mexico through the acquisition of significant archives and supplementary materials. Printed certificates of merit awards are available. While the results left something to be desired in terms of accuracy, the best prisoner-of-war models are truly poignant works of art. Partly acquired by purchase beginning in 1963, but chiefly the gift of Stephen Andrus, owner of the workshop from 1967 to 1984.
